Lydia - Volunteering for Wales For Peace over Summer 2016
Lydia giving a tour2.jpg

Between July and September 2016 I volunteered my time for Wales for Peace/ The Welsh Centre for International Affairs. I helped with various tasks from project management, delivering tours and research. Not only that, but I have published two blogs on the website, firstly about Greenham Common and secondly about Mametz Wood.

I have enjoyed working with committed people on a project that is so varied. I learned a lot about team work and project management. I also felt valued and appreciated as a volunteer by the team! I hope to use the skills I have gained in the future, whether it is the research skills I’ve gained or the presentation skills that will aid me when I go back to university.

I would really recommend anyone who wanted to volunteer at the Wales for Peace as it is such a pleasurable experience!"

Judith - Researching International Conscientious Objectors' Day, February - May 2015

Between February and May, Judith helped us with a range of project management and research tasks, including writing an article for our website on International Conscientious Objectors' Day. Judith joined WCIA as a volunteer in February 2015, near the beginning of the Wales for Peace Project. She said:

"I covered so much ground - I really learned about the many details of the project through the project plan - I learned a lot about project management. I also felt valued and appreciated as a volunteer by the team."

Following her volunteering with us, she was offered a short term placement with Teach First, and subsequently has started work in a permanent role at Cardiff University.

Many thanks for all your invaluable help, Judith!
